In a surprising turn of events, a significant power outage in Weston, Wisconsin, was triggered by a large commercial truck colliding with power lines on Ross Avenue. On Wednesday, Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) crews dedicated several hours to restoring electricity to approximately 40 affected customers, illustrating how unexpected incidents can disrupt daily life.
According to Mountain Bay Police Chief Jeremy Hunt, the unfortunate incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. and power was successfully restored by around 3 p.m. During this time, a section of Ross Avenue near the Camp Phillips intersection was temporarily closed while crews worked diligently to repair the damage caused.
Fortunately, Chief Hunt confirmed that there were no reported injuries stemming from this incident. The truck involved was transporting an oversized fiberglass storage tank, which led to a citation from the State Patrol for exceeding load limits. Furthermore, Hunt mentioned that his department is looking into the possibility of pursuing an ordinance violation related to this occurrence.
According to WPS’s official website, it was reported that 37 customers experienced disruptions due to the downed power lines.
