A Eurovision champion brings a festive music night to Carlow, with a performance that blends tradition and modern melodies. Eimear Quinn, the vocalist who claimed Eurovision glory in 1996 with “The Voice,” will headline a winter concert in St. Mary’s Church of Ireland, offering an enchanting evening on Friday, 19 December at 8:00 pm.
Quinn will be joined by the Mamisa String Quartet and guitarist Robbie Overson, crafting a diverse program that fuses traditional Irish and Celtic textures with classical elements, all woven together with seasonal tunes and contemporary pieces.
The Dublin-born soprano has released four albums, most recently Ériu in 2020, a collaboration with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. Her international stages include the Royal Albert Hall and the Sydney State Theatre, underscoring a career marked by versatility and breadth.
An alumna of NUI Maynooth, where she studied music, Quinn has appeared at significant events as well—performing for Queen Elizabeth II during the 2011 State Visit to Ireland and participating in ceremonies surrounding Pope Francis’s 2019 visit.
Her composition In Paradisum earned a place in Classic FM UK’s Hall of Fame in 2021, a notable honor that places her among Ireland’s distinguished female composers.
