Breaking News: Wike-Supported PDP Faction Calls for Emergency Board and National Executive Committee Meetings
The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by Minister Nyesom Wike has announced an emergency gathering of the party's Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. This decision comes amidst a recent internal crisis within the party.
According to a statement issued by the factional National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and shared by the media aide to the FCT minister, Lere Olayinka, both meetings will take place at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja. The schedule is as follows: the BoT meeting will commence at 11:00 a.m., followed by the NEC meeting at 2:00 p.m.
The notice emphasized the importance of attendance, stating that crucial matters will be discussed and addressed. This development is particularly significant as it follows the recent expulsion of several high-profile members, including Wike, Anyanwu, and others, for alleged anti-party activities during the 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The motion for their expulsion was moved by former PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Bode George, and seconded by the Bauchi State PDP Chairman, Samaila Buga. Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, endorsed the motion through a voice vote, indicating the party's determination to address internal dissent and anti-party conduct.
This emergency meeting is expected to provide further insight into the party's strategy and response to the recent internal turmoil.
